Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. The EP was where she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release new music through the internet including Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she guest-starred on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video then released in September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on the 16th of November. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February 2019 her music video to this track debuted. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
